• Deployed Proxmox KVM virtualization technologies to create virtual networks of 3 Ubuntu systems, to have a platform to simulate real cybersecurity situations to learn how to detect and defend against network intrusions
• Incorporated Snort to write 22+ rules to detect network scans and intrusions
• Wrote a Bash shell script to initiate 3 network scans and 4 attacks with Hping3 and Nmap
• Implemented iptables to protect OpenSSH, vsftpd, and Apache2 services without restricting intended access
