Network Engineer 3 – Legacy Services Lead at Iridium Satellite. Leading the migration of legacy circuit-switched services to SIP, two services done and several to go, without customer impact.
About
I started at Iridium in 2023 on the network operations side and have been promoted four times since. I started at the first tier of the on-call chain for the prepaid and safety services, learning them under a mentor. Today I lead the legacy services side of my team: I own a legacy voice switch, provide technical direction across the circuit-switched voice and data services, lead their migration to SIP while keeping 2G interoperability, and mentor a junior engineer. The most recent example moved roughly 8,000 phone numbers, two of them safety-of-life services, with no customer impact.
My approach is simple: I do the work, and I learn what I need to learn to get the job done. The homelab is where a lot of that learning happens: a small Proxmox cluster behind an OpenWrt router, segmented networks, a self-hosted tailnet, and monitoring that tells me when something breaks before I notice it myself.
I am most interested in network and infrastructure engineering roles. I also have a real interest in NOC and SRE work, and in cloud telecom.
I hold a B.S. in Computer Science from Arizona State University and live in Phoenix.

Cybersecurity virtual lab
A Proxmox-hosted attack-and-defend network used to practice detecting and blocking intrusions with Snort and iptables.
The Socket Project
A peer-to-peer card game for four players over a custom UDP protocol, with TCP for coordination, built in Python on Docker.
